    Uttar Pradesh government undertook a huge project of serving mid day meals in all schools across the state. The status of the mid day meals had to be monitored centrally. Appointing a person to track this was quite tedious, time taking and expensive. Uttar Pradesh government recorded a message in Hindi and scheduled it to the head mistress of each school, who further updated the status by key presses. The teachers could also record / update the status of mid day meals by calling our inbound number. Daily status was tracked through real time logs. This allowed the government to reduce the cost and paper work. Additionally, the status updates could now be accessed from anywhere by the e-government entities.

    Municipal corporation of Gautambudh Nagar, Noida launched an e-portal for bill payment. However it realized soon that people were not very tech savvy and e-portal was more of an overhead expense.     A drop in the percentage of children coming for second and third doses of Pulse Polio was highlighted in a study by the local NGO. Initial attempts by District Administration to remind the parents by SMS, although cost effective, were not yielding result. District administration instructed the medical representatives on each booth to send details of the next dosage for each ward as an SMS to a Long code number. Consequently, calls were sent a day before the next dosage date to the respective parents. Pulse polio awareness campaign was successfully completed in Balasore district. The number of children who took pulse polio dosage in the next camp increased by 25%.
